Responsibilities
Environmental Management-Town (municipal) Cleaning
- Solid waste Management
- Liquid wastes Management
- Promotion of urban greening through tree growing.
- At policy level –Kitui Municipality ensure conformity with the standards set by the authorities in charge in respect to environmental management and also public wellbeing that include the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) and County Ministry of public Health and Sanitation
Socio-Cultural Services
- Kitui Municipality in collaboration with the County Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services recognizes cultural diversity at the County Headquarter. County Government through the relevant Ministries, organizes regular events aimed at promoting, protecting and preserving the cultural diversity especially at the county headquarter.
- Town administration ensures routine maintenance of the county public recreational facilities like; Kitui Public park and stadium.
Community development
- This is through partnership with the County Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services to support youths and women enterprises aimed at improving their livelihoods.
- Kitui Municipality also partners with other stakeholders/development agencies-public benefit organization in programs that are geared at enhancing community empowerment and development
